Turning Lawn Into a Low-Water Desert Oasis
This Las Vegas property was transformed into a water smart, visually stunning outdoor space, thanks in part to the Southern Nevada Water Authority’s (SNWA) Water Smart Landscapes Rebate Program. Our team, led by Victor, removed the client’s existing grass and replaced it with a vibrant, low-maintenance desert design featuring drip irrigation for sustainable watering across nearly 10,000 square feet of property.

Project Overview: Swapping Costly Grass for Water Saving Turf
Sun Valley Landscaping partnered with the homeowner to bring this project to life under the SNWA grass rebate offered by the Nevada Water Authority SNWA. By removing water-thirsty turf and installing water-efficient materials, this property now qualifies for one of Clark County’s most impactful conservation incentives. The finished result is not only eco-conscious but beautifully custom and rebate-approved within the required conversion area.
Key Features:
Urban 6×9 Pavers in Mirage Color: These elegant pavers create a clean, structured look for walkways and sitting areas. The Mirage color adds warmth and depth, blending seamlessly with the desert surroundings and meeting SNWA plant list and conversion area guidelines.
Deluxe 80 Artificial Turf: This premium turf delivers a lush, natural appearance while eliminating the need for irrigation. It’s soft underfoot, safe for kids and pets, and stays green year-round without chemicals or mowing an ideal choice for water-efficient landscape design in Las Vegas.
Rebel Red Decorative Rock (Multiple Sizes): We used a combination of ½”, ¾”, and 2″ to 4″ rebel red rock to add bold contrast and texture throughout the landscape. These rich tones pop against the greenery and help retain soil moisture. These stones complement the artificial turf, aid moisture retention, and contribute to overall landscape conversion compliance.
New Irrigation Valves and Drip Irrigation: Even in low-water landscapes, drip irrigation remains essential. We installed new valves to ensure efficient water flow and zone control, helping plants thrive under water smart landscapes program guidelines.
Designed With Las Vegas Living in Mind
The entire layout was designed to thrive in Las Vegas’s extreme temperatures while keeping water use to a minimum. From the placement of pavers to the turf border shaping, every detail was crafted to enhance functionality, curb appeal, and sustainability.
The use of artificial turf, decorative rock, and drip irrigation significantly cuts down on upkeep, while the upgraded irrigation system supports water-efficient use for any live plants included in the landscape. This yard is not just rebate qualified it’s future ready and fully approved under Nevada Water Authority SNWA standards. The upgraded irrigation system, featuring drip irrigation, reduces waste and keeps the conversion area compliant with Nevada Water Authority SNWA rebate rules. Failure to maintain this standard or submit a grant of conservation easement correctly may result in approval will make your conversion ineligible status. Our team ensures all documentation is handled properly from start to finish.
SNWA Rebate Program Partnership
By participating in the SNWA Water Smart Landscapes Rebate Program, the homeowner earned a rebate for removing grass and replacing it with desert landscaping. Our team helped guide the property owner through every step of the process, including:

“Outstanding Work”
Victor and his team just finished my backyard landscaping and I couldn’t be happier! We had a retaining wall, pavers and turf put in. Victor was very communicative and punctual every day. We negotiated a fair price and the work they did was done very well and very quickly. They finished 2 days earlier than anticipated and even gave us some solar lights to polish everything off! During the process they offered great suggestions and were very knowledgeable and super friendly. Will definitely be using them for future work! I can’t say enough good things. So happy we chose Sun Valley LLC for this exciting project!
